The Wild Yehliu – The Most Amazing Seascape in Taiwan

This unusual candle rock formation was "sculptured" by the constant pounding of waves against the limestone.

The North Coast of Taiwan is famous for its unusual rocks formations and alien looking seascape. If you are visiting Taipei, it’s worthwhile to make a day trip to this area just to witness the amazing work of art by the forces of nature. The unusual rock (limestone)  formations and seascape were created by sea erosion, weathering and possibly earth movements.

Most of the rock formations were given fanciful names. You could find candle rock, ginger rock, mushroom rock, queen’s head, elephant rock just to name a few. However the most high profile of them all has to be the Queen’s Head Rock! It’s side profile could possibly pass off as the head of Nefertiti, the famous and beautiful ancient Egyptian Queen. Tourists are willing to line up for hours just to take a photo with her majesty the “Queen of Rock”. Well, if you happened to be in Taipei, this is a must-see sight in Taiwan.

Rip Curl and Mooks Spring/Summer Seduction @ KLCC

Rip Curl & Mooks presented their Spring/Summer collection at the KLCC center court yesterday. Katerina is seen here modeling the latest clothing line from them.

It was quite a good and lovely day yesterday and the entire photography and blogger gang decided to drop by at KLCC and swarmed the center court with rows of 2-step ladders and the latest photographic equipment money can buy. Although we are not professional photographers, our equipments and our skills could rival or even surpass that of full time photographers. We are a diverse group of professionals (in others fields – Engineers, Managers, Doctors, IT professionals, GMs, etc…) formed out of the passion for photography, therefore we take photography seriously and are not easily cowed by people going out of their way to stop us from enjoying our passionate hobby.  We have been enjoying this hobby of ours for many years and therefore we fully understand the ethics of doing photography at public places. We will always respect the Official Photographer’s (OP) job in any events and we will never in any way disrupt and block their designated spots intentionally. Therefore we should be accorded the same respect in covering the events even if the OP are not happy with our presence. For god sake, we are there as hobbyists and not there to snatch their “rice bowl”! We just could not stand some OPs who acted like they were the overlords of the events and purposely shown their black face to us. For these people, our message is simple – you shouldn’t be in this business if you can’t take the competition, albeit from non competitors.

Sorry for the off topics discussion…. we were confronted with these issues the past few weeks therefore I am compelled to voiced my anger  now while I still remember them. Haha…. Now that it’s off my chest I am a happy man again. To be honest I am a big fan of the clothing lines from Rip Curl, Reef and Billabong. The fashion show is really a good place for potential buyer like me to appreciate the latest clothes from Rip Curl. I just couldn’t help it but I did went up to their shop (Ampang Mall – 308) after the fashion show and bought a few items for myself. Yippy. I find their latest clothing lines very fashionable and made of very comfortable fabric (from recycled materials) which I could enjoy and appreciate.

Backrow: Saw Boey Guan of SML Fashion Design School, the winner of the inaugural Mercedes-Benz STYLO's Emerging Designer Awards being flanked by his model and lecturer.

Date: 2nd April 2010.

Location: The Scarlet Fortress, Jalan Sentul Kuala Lumpur.

This year the STYLO Fashion Grand Prix was held at a not so glamorous part of the city – Methodist Boys School (MBS) at Jalan Sentul. The school sports and assembly hall was transformed into a spectacular Scarlet Fortress with scarlet and black as the design theme. More companies and organizations should hold their events in these type of locations so as to promote and bring more economic activities to the area. Furthermore it will channel the traffic away from the city center and bring some night life back to these places.

Overall, the event was a runaway success judging from the lists of celebrities, Malaysia’s top fashion designers, corporate figures, who’s who in Kuala Lumpur and her majesty the queen who graced the opening ceremony. Following are a series of photographs to relive the grand occasion.

Michael Schumacher blazed Kuala Lumpur City Center with impressive F1 Street Demo

Michael Schumacher, the 7-time Formula 1 World Champion, although out of action for 3 years, is still the crowd favorite in the Petronas Formula One Street Demo. He is seen here exiting the pit for the start of the eagerly anticipated street demo.

In conjunction with the coming 2010 Formula One PETRONAS Malaysian Grand Prix, PETRONAS has lined up a series of “Pit Pulse” activities to hype up the promo. Centred at Jalan Binjai in KLCC, the PETRONAS Pit Pulse event will host a bunch of activities including promotion, merchandising booths and exhibits, go-kart and F1 simulator challenge as well as live performances by Malaysia’s top artistes. For more information go to their website: http://www.petmos.com.my

However the main highlight and THE must-see event of the week was definitely the Formula One Street Demo. This is the first time Petronas is staging the F1 demo on the street of Kuala Lumpur. No details were too small or overlooked in planning and staging this FREE public event. Even a fully functional pit stop was constructed at the Pit Pulse for the viewing pleasure of the public. And when the weather was not cooperative, free rain ponchos were distributed to the public. What else could you ask for? A free message maybe…..
