A friend of mine texted me last weekend that she was one of the shortlisted finalists for the Estee Lauder Model Search 2009 competition. I was thrilled for her and duly offered to take some photos for her during her quest for glory. It was amazing that a mother of one could make it to the final of the model search competition! I guess the saying that beauty transcend all ages is well and truly alive. Below are some photographs taken during the competition.

The Estee Lauder model search has 2 categories, category A for below 29’s and category B for above 30’s. Overall most of the contestants displayed self-confidence, poise and “amazing” catwalk skills to justify their selection. They have to undergo a one full-day of training, the day before the competition and they have really done well considering that most of them have no modeling, posing or catwalk experience.

Category A contestants were mostly young beautiful ladies with not much experience in life and that really showed in they way they answered the questions posed to them. In contrast, the ladies in Category B were slightly more mature, very confident and could really speak their minds. One thing in common for both groups are: their really immaculate, flawless and radiant skin. I guess that’s really the most important factor for someone who is going to represent a cosmetic company as their brand ambassador.

Although my friend did not win the competition, she however gained so much knowledge, experience and friendships throughout the competition. At least she could relate her experience/tales on stage (for better or worst) to her daughter whom may follow her footsteps later in life. And those precious tales, they were priceless!

    • Thanks eRiCa. Appreciate the feedback.

I went through your blog and I fully agreed that your second portrait would have given you a shot at the ELMS’s final at KLCC. You actually looked like the Estee Lauder’s model printed on the backdrop. You should definitely try again next year and make sure you pick the right photo. 🙂
