2nd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2010 – Day 2

The full collection of hot air balloons were tethered for an amazing display of colors, shapes, sizes and characters on the second day of the Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloons Fiesta.

I have a feeling that the second Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloons Fiesta 2010 will be an even more successful event than last year judging from the huge crowds and the long queue forming besides the tethered hot air balloon rides for the public. The RM10 rides has proven to be a hot, must do activity at the fiesta. Helicopter rides are also available at RM150 per head if you are looking for more thrill and adventure.

If you are a shopaholic, do not despair: you could spend the day at the numerous tents set up to sell various merchandise ranging from apparels to foot wear. If you are hungry, you could feast at the many stalls and kitchen-on-wheels that hawk Nasi Lemak, KFC, Pizza Hut and many other local fares. Its carnival-like atmosphere really turned the often boring and empty fields into the center of Putrajaya’s universe. The "Darth Vader Head" has to be the most popular hot air balloon at this year event judging from the number of photographers and kids flocking to this iconic villian of Star Wars. The dark force is piloted by Benoit Lambert from Belgium and it is licensed by Lucas Film, so it's very close to the real thing.

The cheerful ladies sent by the dark lord to support team Darth Vader. May the force be with you always. "We come in peace..... please bring me to your leader!" Actually.... I would give an arm and a leg just to test drive the lightsaber. πŸ™‚

Another star of the show has to be the hot Levi's jeans. It has to be HOT, judging by the number of 'BOMBA' or fire and rescue personnel crowding at the foot of the hot pants. Pants on fire is piloted by Rien Jurg from the Netherlands.

This "bunch of balloons" hot air balloon belonging to balloonist Daan Elfrinf of the Netherlands reminds me of the movie UP! Hopefully no 78-year-old Malaysian man will tie a bunch of balloons and try to relocate his house to Angel falls any time soon. πŸ™‚

Putrajaya is really a beautiful and ideal location for hot air ballooning.

2 sinister combination amidst the government complexes in Putrajaya: The head of the dark lord and his lower limbs in blue Levi's jeans. He must have left his torso at home.
